We are a dry hire venue, this means when you rent our space for your event, you have the freedom to choose your own suppliers, such as caterers, drinks, lighting, sound and decoration. Brixton East's premises license with Lambeth Council means our venue has to ensure the following procedures below are adhered to by clients renting our space, we would advise you read the information below carefully.

To uphold our license with Lambeth Council and for the safety of all your guests/staff, it is mandatory that the client organises security/door supervision, you can only use MJT Security Service Ltd - www.mjtsecurityservice.com - you would need to contact them directly to obtain a quote.

Please note Brixton East 1871 requires that the client hiring the space discloses the number of guests under 25. If the client fails to provide this information accurately it could result in your event being cancelled or guests under 25 will not gain access to your event on the day. Please note that 18th birthdays will require 6 door supervisors and 21st birthdays will require 6 door supervisors also. 

Our total capacity is 230 people including guests and staff. We are fully licensed for alcohol sales, live & recorded music, sports events and the sale of refreshments i.e. food.

Club Nights / DJ Parties are NOT permitted at Brixton East 1871. If your event transpires into a Club Night or DJ Party, then the event will be either cancelled before the date or shut down on the day. Any expenses, security or rental costs incurred by the client hiring Brixton East 1871 will NOT be refunded. 

If you rent Brixton East 1871 for an event it is mandatory that you purchase Public Liability insurance, you MUST select cover for £5 million. Brixton East 1871 has its own public liability, however we require all customers to take out there own. We recommend www.events-insurance.co.uk. It is also essential that you request copies of insurance from your suppliers for your own reference.

If required, you may rent furniture, props and certain equipment from Brixton East 1871 (please see our Furniture Hire page). We require all furniture orders 14 days before your event. If not, please check our Suppliers page for some recommendations and information on the lighting rigs and sound systems installed/managed at our venue by www.simulacrastudio.com and www.londonlightingcompany.com

To lock the date for your event, you would need to pay a 20% deposit within 14 days of pencilling your date, and the final payment 30 days before your event. We do have a strict payment system and there is an auto-cancellation when payments are not received on time. Please note, until you have pencilled your dates (by confirming via email) the dates are vulnerable to other clients securing your preferred dates. 

With regards to setup for a wedding on either a Friday or Saturday, you have access the day before from 11.00am to 8.00pm and on your wedding from 9.00am to 2.00am and on the following day from 9.00am to 11.00am for collections (timings may vary depending upon which day you book as our licensing hours are different - please see the "Prices" section on our website for more details). 

We provide two hours free setup time for all other events, if you require additional time this will be charged. Please specify your timings and event description so we can provide an accurate quote.

Brixton East 1871 will require evidence well before your event that you have booked MJT Security Service door supervision and obtained public liability insurance, failing to demonstrate these two mandatory requirements may result in your event being cancelled promptly. Any expenses, security or rental costs incurred by the client hiring Brixton East 1871 will NOT be refunded.
